From an email I just wrote:
Krakow is full of lovely cafes and restaurants – has lots of bullet holes and jazz clubs. My kinda town. You’ll be visiting the Wawel castle of course and hearing the legend about the dragon.
I have previously stayed at and would recommend – http://www.wit-stwosz.com.pl/index_eng.html
Nice small hotel bang in the centre of the old town but was not too expensive. Anywhere near there is great. Try and get into a Jewish restaurant called Ariel. It has two parts and you want to book in the one that does the live performance which I thought was amazing and so did the other 8 women on my girly trip. Pod Aniolami cellar restaurant is a great place to eat. Who knew dungeons could be this fun – http://www.inyourpocket.com/poland/krakow/restaurants-cafes/Polish/Pod-Aniolami_16755v. A must visit cafe is this one, Jama Michalika, for the history so do read the review here – http://www.krakow-info.com/michalik.htm
If you are able to add some time to your trip a short well serviced bus/coach ride away is Zakopane in the mountains. Great to see a bit of mountain life and experience the traditional costumes/food of the mountains. Lovely restaurants with roaring fires. Oh yeah and there’s the mountain walks of course like to Morskie Oko lake.
Interesting day trips from Krakow are to Auschwitz and to Wieliczka salt mine. The ride up at the end from the salt mine in the old lift was quite an experience as I recall.
These guides are very funny as the write up is always so honest so have a look through – http://www.inyourpocket.com/poland/krakow
I picked one up when staying in Poznan and spent the whole evening reading it in bed as it made me laugh so much saying stuff like you could tell what the clientel would be like from the badly parked sports cars out front etc.
Have fun and let me know if you like it. Thinking about it has made me want to go again.

Business has truly taken over holiday plans now as not only is Marta queen of ladies belts with www.onceuponabelt.com but October 2009 we’ll launch a site selling shoes with interchangeable tops / uppers called Swap Top Shoes. The url will be www.swaptopshoes.com.
If you love holidays and looking stylish you will love the concept where you have one sole + many shoe tops so you don’t have to pack loads of shoes to take away. Good for weddings too where you don’t to have to buy a pair of shoes only to wear once to a special occasion.
Jane Rafter popularised this idea with her Slinks sandals when she appeared on Dragons Den in August 2009, although the Swap Top Shoes brand was already being built then. It was when Jane had several weddings to go to that she thought of her idea. Being of Spanish origin I have to wonder if these were three hour long Spanish weddings and that is why her shoes are a flat sandal ;- )
We hope to have Jane Rafter’s Slinks available in the future. The ladies of the UK seem to have latched onto the concept and sales of other similar shoe types like Nooshooz soared after the programme aired. Swap Top Shoes brings you the best of the various brands because every woman has her favourite style and a heel choice she finds most comfortable.
We have the big brands from the US on board like SwitchFlops or switch flops if you prefer, we’re talking to Onesole about the UK patent and have many really exciting designers lined up where we will be selling them online in the UK exclusively through www.swaptopshoes.com.

Hi all. We have just launched http://www.onceuponabelt.com – a wonderful website for women to find a gorgeous selection of ladies leather belts and advice / inspiration on to make more out of their wardrobe with a little belt magic. Our travels are now connected to buying beautiful belts and we have some stunning gem stone encrusted cabrito leather belts from Argentina.
Tomorrow it is an early start and off to Argentina, finally after 12 years of pining to experience Tierra Del Fuego actually going to do it. Will try to blog if I can find time to write and web access using Andrew’s fab new mini laptop the EEEPC which absolutely rocks and only cost £220 from Toys-R-Us.
Okay blog is at http://realtravel.com/argentina-trips-i6665513.html and as well as diary with travel tips is full of data about hotel and meal costs. What a wonderful trip it is turning out to be from peaks to penguin poo at the end of the earth. Loving it and totally worth the 12 year wait to get here. It’s 8th March and we’re just back from Torres Del Paine national park where yesterday we had lunch at a view point listening to the rumble of avalanches in the valley over the other side of the lake. Today we were beset first by guanacos and then chased by dogs. Feels like we’ve been travelling months we’ve seen so much and covered such distances but it has only been a week. Did I mention how much I love it? Oh yes I did.

My best ever spa experience takes you back in time. The Arab baths in Madrid are something really special. Take a look at the website. They are worth going all the way to Madrid for. Step into another world of steam and twinkly lights amid Moorish decor. Pure hedonism. Step out invigorated and refreshed. Your session includes a massage too. Must stop writing before I succumb and buy a ticket to Madrid.
